I need to buy a new wireless keybaord/mouse set. My current cheapie doesn't have enough range although it has served valiantly for it's time. :)
Anyhow I'm not worried about price as much as quality, I need something which works in the next room preferably from the receiver, and if not at least works well at any height in the room (in relation to the receiver). And also I need a mouse I can use on any surface so as I move around the studio doing keys, bass, guitar, vox, I can just plop the thing down and go. Ideal setup for me would be something which works well in either upstairs room, either with the receiver in the hall between or in one of the rooms. The more range the better. I don't have any other wireless gear in here and it's a fairly remote neighborhood yet so I probably won't have much in the way of interference problems. :yes
Anyhow any thoughts are appreciated. :yes
The Logitech wireless kits that use RF are decent, but you might want to look to Bluetooth if you need more range.

Apparently this one has a 60ft range. Pretty decent. Whether this works for you will depend on the size of your rooms.
Also, since this will be used for your studio, using Bluetooth will eliminate the chances of the RF transmitter interfering with your studio equipment. If you're not using shielded cabling, this *could* cause problems.
That set runs for $230 (ouch...)

Thanks. Nice keyboard, sounds like I better look into bluetooth before I manke a decision, that's probably the way to go in terms of making sure this gear won't interfere with any future gear I buy such as the wireless headset. I know zero about bluetooth, I'm going to have to get on Google and read up on it... :yes
Thanks Tek. :)
No problem Corey. :yes
Our end-users are broadcasters, so I am familiar with RF interference and what kind of problems it can cause. Some of our customers house their transmitters in their building, and have been known to interfere with audio switchers that use RS232 as well as some touch screens. Kinda freaky to see and you wouldn't have known it was RF interference until replacing all cabling with shielded cabling.
That kit is pricey, but it does look like what you need.
Edit: I just surfed to the Logitech website to see this keyboard since FS didnt have the pictures available. That keyboard looks pretty cool! ;)

I agree, it is *very* cool. I'm no rich man but I figure it's worth it for me to view this purchase as an investment since I spend about 50-60% of my waking hours [shudder] in front of a computer. :)

By far the best cordless is Gyration (http://www.gyration.com/). I have used logitech (now in the garbage) Microsoft (same place), for some strange reason the keyboards would just die. I used the first two at home because the Gyration was a little out of what I had budgeted. I am back with the cheap corded keyboard and switched to a trackball. I bought the Gyration for our boardroom at work and sure wish I had started that way for home.
