I was getting a very predictable pattern of audio stuttering on audio files in AMS 5. The project ONLY uses audio , no video files. the only audio files are .ogg. The files play beautifully in the runtime. EXCEPT if before using the runtime I play a QT movie in another application. The only way i can get the sound back its non stuttering playback was to open Sound Forge 7 and play any .ogg file. Then the .ogg files play fine again. As soon as I play a QT movie the .ogg files will stutter and I need to play a .ogg in Sound Forge to "reset" it. Then they play fine again. This happens everytime I perform these actions. Even when I shutdown the computer and started it back up it "remembered" to stutter or not stutter. I went to the QT settings and made sure that the only file association was for a QT .mov file. I have not been able to test on QT 7. This was happening on a Dell laptop D600 running XP. I have checked the Forum and audio stuttering has been reported in the past, but I do not see any real answer to this.
Well after some thought I went and downloaded the ogg codec for win32 QT and installed it. Voila problem solved. For developers who use QT this may be the solution to their problem as well. Now the bad thing is that I would need to provide this in a trouble shoot area for my users. The reason I use AMS is for lack of plugin requirements, but there is always something when messing with multimedia. I hope this helps someone else, cuz people on this forum have helped me.
