My new riding lawnmower...

Well, I made my move (been here a few days how) to Florida (U.S.A.) and just purchased and used my first riding lawnmower. If you are not familiar with grass in Florida... it's thick (Saint Augustine for us) and it can bog down a small-horse powered lawn mower in a second (as it did with the push mower I tried, it stalled out sit times within 15 minutes of getting into the "cut").

And... the riding lawnmower is just plain fun! (those with such know what I mean).

I ended up just driving all the way down and not stay over. It was just over 1000 miles and about 17 hours (I only took a total of two (30 minutes total) breaks).

Whewww...

Then you rest and close your eyes in a nice comfy bed, eyes closed, but you feel your body still wanting to drive.

Ah... the memories of a riding lawnmower! When I was a teenager in the early 60's ( :eek: ) we lived on an acre in New Jersey. I remember riding around with my old transistor radio (not just ANY radio.. a TRANSISTOR radio!) taped to the handles of the mower. Of course, the radio had a ferrite-core antenna and for 1/2 of the route I was always at the wrong angle to the signal. WMCA (The "good guys" and originators of the smiley face -> :p ) and WABC ("Solid Gold!"!). Now I have something even BETTER than a riding mower. An "Indentured Servant". Oops... I mean "a teenage son".

St. Augustine is a type of grass. We have plenty of it around here (coastal Georgia), along with Bermuda grass and Centipede.

Absolutely on the Cape Canaveral launch thing, Intrigued! If you've never seen the shuttle go up in person, you need to take the day off and check it out. It's totally surreal, and so much more awe-inspiring than just watching it on TV.
