Here's an interesting fact I just learnt up about James Doohan:
A little-known fact about Doohan is that he was also a linguist, and devised the Vulcan and Klingon language dialogue heard in Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Over the next 20 years, other linguists expanded Klingon into a full language of its own.

Wow. I always had a soft spot for Scotty...it's sad to see Mr. Doohan go (and from Alzheimer's no less). A canadian...injured on D-day...then a scout pilot...good with voices...fathering a child at 80...I think he would have been a very interesting person to have known.
