Last week I got my chip mod to upgrade my POD to version 2.3, which gives me access to the line6 online tone banks at http://www.customtone.com and one of the ones I noticed that is really excellent sounding is the "Acoustic Guitar Simulator" which purports to make your electric sound like an acoustic. It's amazingly sweet, so anyhow just for entertainment I thought I'd share a sound clip. Nothing special, just the background alone which I did using Bass/Guitar/NI B4 and Groove Agent, then the same with me soloing on it using the Acoustic Sim:

Sorry, I had to finish with a cowboy phrase because it's Stampede week here in Calgary. Tomorrow I'll post some solo strumming using the Acoustic Sim just for fun, it's amazing how much it sounds like a real acoustic in that context, perfect for fattening up rock tracks, etc. In fact since I found this patch, I've been using it 90% of the time... :)
care to share a link to the patch for the other Line6 Junkies on the forum :p

Here come da patch. I'm not sure about cross-POD compatibility, then again you could always copy the settings manually...

Posted here under the same fair use guidelines that the audio manufacturers use to demo audio gear and market patches, here's just the opening chord sequence of Stairway to Heaven solely for the purposes of demonstrating the Line 6 POD acoustic simulator patch with a clear reference point.

I'm amazed by how well it works, and that sample has no post production sweetening either... My playing is obviously sloppy as usual [blech] but that particular abomination aside, the tone of the POD on this patch is downright usable. Granted, you probably won't want to headline a folkfest with it, but it's perfect for normal gigs or home recording. I'm really impressed by this particular patch. The thing about a really good patch is that it's musical sounding and motivates you artistically. This patch is quickly becoming the favorite clean sound in my rig. Did you manage to load it Worm?
:yes :yes :yes :yes :yes :yes :yes :yes :yes :yes
P.S. For anyone using a Line 6 unit who cares about the details of the recording, this was using my neck and middle pickup together with both tone pots at 5. This patch gives you way too much high end so you have to cool it down a bit with your tone pots. (the pickups are both Seymour Duncans, Hotrails for the neck and JB Junior for the middle)
I downloaded it and stuck the patch in my Tone Locker, but didn't get a chance to load it into my POD.
I spent the entire night swapping out my current routers with a new one. Spent way too much time on the phone with Vonage support to get my VoIP up and running. Then I got ticked off at how sloppy everything was underneath the desk, and spent the rest of the evening organizing the cable mess. Once I was done with that, I too was done.
But tonight is going to be fun :)
:huh
Incompatible tone for the PodXT Live
Bummer. I did download some other acoustic patches, but none seem to sound as good. Although that could simply be my playing :)
Line6 Edit wouldn't even let me open it to check the settings. There's got to be a way around it.

Wouldn't even let you view the settings? Hmm, that is odd because I can open any type of patch on my system, I just can't send it. OK let me transcribe the settings and maybe you can port it over. It's worth trying, I'll post the settings later... :yes

OK here's the settings attached, give it a shot. As you can see the meat and potatoes of this effect is the EQ particularly the cranked mids and highs, also the presence. I run one channel of my POD's output through my RNC compressor and tube preamp before hitting the soundcard, so that also might account for some of the warmth in my recorded example vis-a-vis the patches you tried. But probably not too much...
