    Ogg Problems

    Hi there
I am having a small problem.
I built a project with a loop background music (in ogg format, variable
bit-rate) that uses the Audio_background_channel. The music loops as
    the project starts.

The problem is that it sounds really distorted...
The same sound clip sounds OK using cool edit.

    If someone could help...

I would also like to add that even using wavs as sound clips
    the same distortion appears....

Can you post a sample project with .ogg files? I can check to see if it's working on this end...

Now seems to work ok. The strange thing is that I didn;t do
any modifications. I am using AMS for 1/2 a year now, and I hane encountered these problems with ogg files.

I tried to post a sample file
(about 2megs) but when I pressed the upload button,
IE showed me that couldn;t connect to page.

            Thanx anyway.

                pixy,
how did you "make" your ogg files? If converted, what program did you use?
Sometimes, not all converters work. Plus, using VBR adds an additional factor of instability which, in case of audio is unecessary.

I make OGG (from mp3/wav) either using Cool edit 2K or by using the vorbis ogg converter (from command prompt). The strange thing is that even wav sounds sometimes hear distorted...

It does sound strange (Pun intended...).
                    Anyway, if it works now....

Can you better describe this audio distortion that you are experiencing?
EXAMPLE: audio stutter, poor quality, audio skipping, etc.

I also see that you say it fails as a WAV file and intermittent. You may want to search this forum for “audio stutter problems” to see if this gives you some help.

If by chance you find a solution, PLEASE POST results.

Seems to me that is the AUDIO STUTTER problem. Has anyone find a solution?

Audio stutter = (usually) faulty sound card/sound card driver.

My first suggestion would be to download and install the latest driver for your card.
What about DirectX? are you up-to-date?
Then, if your card is not an onBoard type, try and switch slot.

                          Good Luck

I am using AMS on a DELL Latitude D800, with all the latest updates
                            performed (hardware/DirectX).
I think I will try to roll back the drivers of the sound card to the previous
installed to check if it's a sound card problem, and notify you if that works
                            Thanx

                              Good luck.
Another thing you could try and do: are your files playing smoothly in Media Player? If so, try and play them through a media player object in AMS. Again, does it work?
At least you"ll pin point the problem.
