Hi,

I've been interested in test driving AMS for some time. I presently been using IShell, but it's entirely based on QT for delivery. I considered swithing to Director MX, but am a tad 'code impaired.'

Other than what is generally advertised as the 1000-n-1 uses for AMS, I am particularly interested in creating Entertainment CDROMS for kids. Something installabe that will save their name, and progress in the 'game' (more a click-n-discover type app, similar to the "I-Spy" CDROM series. Is this type of application possible in AMS? And, more importantly, can the intereface be designed to be completely 'kid-style' i.e. objects/backgrounds/cursors...

It seems that many of the AMS apps I have come across have very similar style compontents. That could just be developers usinf the included style libraries, (tisk tisk tisk), but I want to make sure that I can use elements designed from scratch. I really hope this is the case, cause I'm not thrilled with the progress, support, or future of the product I'm currently using.

Thanks, and look forward to becoming an active member of your community.

AMS works well for what I would consider a click and discover application. The backgrounds, buttons and interface can all be customized for your liking. I have seen spelling test helpers, math helpers, and even helped program a flashcard application. Give it a try the forums are very helpful for the code impaired as well.

BTW Welcome to the board. :D

Thanks Tigger...

I'm a character animator/director, but I also develop original character driven content. One of the things I am keenly interested in is developing interactive 'playable' stories and adventures based on my and others original programming. The web stuff is doable in Flash, and although one could simply use a swf to exe wrapper for simple flash stuff, I like the idea providing a richer 3D style encounter for kids to explore, with all sorts of hidden 'easter eggs' serverside that the kids can access when they solve certain puzzles in the 'game'. (animated messages, secret codes to areas on the CD, blah blah blah...)

I will certainly keep you up to date on my progress. First, I have this mundane but well paying gig to do that involves learning AMS in like....well, now. So I just ordered the 3CD training set and prepared my coffee machine for a long long week.

Right on!

Brendan welcome to the forums! I really like hearing from those that are doing and not just saying!

I hope to learn a lot from what you have to offer, over time, here in the I.R. forums.

These forums, threads contain a wealth of useful (and my occasional horrible joke) bit of information.

Yes welcome brendang! As Tigg and Intrigued said before me. You will come to enjoy this forum (more like a family) and the great people in IR.

You will be up and running in no time! :yes ;)

Yes I think AutoPlay Media Studio 5.0 Pro would work for your case. You should also look at the Deluxe (http://www.indigorose.com/ams/version_comparison.php) suite since some of the plugins may be useful for you.

Welcome to the community!

Thanks to all for the fine greeting...

All that is needed now is a 'buy a round of beers' plugin and we'd be good to go!

I look forward to becoming a useful member of the community and getting to know you all.

Great to hear. We have a great user base from all over the world. The "Computer Chat" forum is especially entertaining for tech-minded people (a.k.a geeks)

Welcome to the "family" Brendang.
Point and click..yes, for sure.
custom design, the sky (your sky) is the limit
Animations, integrating Flash.
3D, any package that would render video or flash is good

3 tips to remember:
1. Page inherit
2. Kiosk mode
3. Additional plug-ins (like Worm's setMask).

Good luck
