Does anyone have any good April fools stories? I love pranks and practical jokes so I'd love to hear some stories from fellow computer enthusiasts.

I once made a program that opened 1000 instances of notepad on the next reboot on Darryls computer thinking that it would happen in the morning. He then had to reboot his system while on the phone with a customer and BANG there it was. Hilarious

Here is one that was played on a good friend of mine. His computer buddies took a screen capture of his desktop and then put that as his wallpaper. They then deleted all the icons on the desktop and hid his startbar. pretty funny not being able to click anything on his desktop or activate the startbar. They were nice enough to save is links and have a batch file that copied the files back to his desktop and restored everything. :D

One of the best I heard of from my Dad was back when Canada was in the process of adopted the metric system in the seventies. A radio talk show host (I believe it was Peter Warren but am not sure) put on a fake talk show with fake panelists that discussed the metric system and how it would affect Canadians. The funny part is that they said we woul dmove to metric time which meant 100 seconds in a minute, 100 minutes in an hour, 100 hours in a day, etc... Because it was such a big and somewhat misunderstood issue at the time people bit it hook, line and sinker. They were calling in just completely infuriated about it. Har. The UNI students of UWA here in West Aus have a tradition to come
up with a prank for this day..

'Daylight Saving' has been on the agenda for years here and always gets
the 'nogo' . One year the Students braudcast on Student Radio a callback
topic. "The science department has determined that with the introduction
of Daylight Saving, the extra hour of sunlight would improve primary production outputs
and the extra hour would give students 7 additional
hours per week study time - so vote yes to the 'referendum." :yes

A good one which is easy, is to set all the clocks ahead by an hour at night and then wake up your spouse an hour early. (you may also have to pretend the TV is broken depending on which model of spouse you have) Believe it or not I've managed to get 3-4 different girfriends to show up for school/work an hour early, including one twice. Two years in a row identical prank, same girl. :yes

You should have seen me giggling that day Adam, I could hardly breathe. I was an electrical apprentice at the time, and I told all the guys at work. There was much laughter on site that day. Even the super-cranky old grumpy guys cracked a smile on that one. :)
