Great news for video people working on Windows, methinks. Not so good if you have a Cinewave card for use with Final Cut Pro, however.

Eric, this comes as a shock to me.
But from what I read in the article, the emphasis is on the consumer side of the deal. Is it possible that Pinnacle are moving into professional markets, leaving to others (in this case AVID) to work in the consumer one? or is it REALLY a complete selling of Pinnacle to AVID.
And if so, what will come out of that. As far as the editing softwares, they are both quite good (in my opinion, Liquid Edition is much more intuitive) and somehow target different markets...
I don't know. We"ll have to see where all this goes...

Unfortunately, that link was merely copied straight off a press release from Avid. So, there's no conjecture in it whatsoever.

From my point of view, things are very much up in the air if you own/use Pinnacle products of any sort. I would imagine that for some, it will spell good news eventually. For other product lines, folks might not be so lucky.
