Hee! A gig... The ex-drummer from Iron Butterfly, now 63, getting paid $12/hr. to play the tom-tom solo from Inna-gadda-da-vida on some guy's front lawn from 9AM until 5PM each day because the guy's son-in-law, who is currently living above the garage but only until he gets back on his feet, owes $6,000 in back taxes from a failed Amway venture in 1972. And each time the guy or his wife comes in/out the drummer lectures them about the ills of not paying taxes. I like it very much. :yes
All joking aside I think these people they send out are not so much "drummers" as "people with drums". I maybe wrong but I believe this is a variation on a filbustering type tactic which goes back thousands of years in India and has been used to solve a variety of things including disputes over commerce, family issues, etc. I think they try to make the drumming as "unmusical" as possible, i.e. a group of people with noisemakers create a deafening din on your front lawn and lecture you on your taxes everytime you come in/out. Eventually you just get tired of it and pay up...
Pretty brilliant actually, I like it. Peaceful yet very effective, and it costs very little to do. The results speak for themselves, they cleared up almost 20% of the total debts in one short week for a few measly thousand in wages, whereas many other elaborate methods had previously failed. :yes
I wonder what the neighbors do though?

Amazing.. Ahh INDIA !
"I wonder what the neighbors do though?"
more than likely formed a support group: 'drummer's anonymous'
..signed up for 'drumming duties' and then put in a claim as a Tax Deduction :yes

Hilarious. But in my case I would enjoy that solo for at least 3 days.
