Anyone know why XP Media Center Edition is partial to messing about with the onboard LAN port?

XP Pro [standard], no problem. Install it and the LAN just works. MCE, install and it says "limited or no connectivity" when i mouse-over the icon in the sys-tray [which happens to have a yellow exclamation over it]. It wont let me connect to the LAN/web or anything for that matter.
I have disabled the 'Windows Firewall' in the control panel but it makes no dif.
:huh

I've had that happen when I didn't recieve an IP address from a DHCP server. It then used the Windows Autoconfigure IP address range. It has an IP address but probably no the one you want it to have. Are you using DHCP? Did you try and release and renew the IP address? Is the card enabled?

It's surprising what 'late at night and all out of ideas' can do to you!

Good call Jeremy, it was DHCP settings needed tweaking. Reading your reply coupled with 'first thing in the morning' made it a 2 second job :)

<< Happy now. Thanks Buddy.
