True Update 2 is the exact tool I was looking for. As soon as I get the go ahead from my first client, this is a must-have product! I can't believe how much improved it is from version 1.0 - so much easier to learn and use.

I'm sure I'll have questions as they arise, but just for starters, it was completely intuitive. I added an update client for an existing project in a matter of 5 minutes on the first try - not a single snafu.

Thanks for seeing to this much-needed upgrade.

I downloaded the trial a couple-three days ago, looked it over real quick. It seems to very easy to use (along the lines of the other software I.R. offerings).

Thanks for the insight eric. Maybe in the near future it will become a "must have"!

:yes

By the way, soooo you would say then that this application is a Trueupdate? (repeated snort laugh)

:lol

I think True Update is something that's going to find more and more usefulness as clients begin to see the light. It's hard to sell clients on an abstract idea like True Update, believe me. But when they see it in action, they simply go nuts. It's a huge boon to my software development business.

I've realized that it's increasingly important to take samples of my business-to-business apps with me on sales calls. I know that showing a client how this product will work with their software is going to be an easy decision for them in most cases. It just makes too much sense for them to pass up. If they don't have to distribute 600 CDs of their software updates every quarter, imagine the enhancement to timeliness of updates and their bottom line in the end.

At first I thought that this product would actually hurt my bottom line because my development costs would be lower. But it just requires a more practical pricing approach - it's a premium service in my opinion, and something I know clients will be willing to pay for if the numbers are right. My savings in time means more time to do other stuff. :)

I agree. In the coming weeks we will try to shape and define the TrueUpdate 2.0 online experience to better define some of what you edified here. :yes

I have no doubt that IR is the most responsive vendor I have. And we use lots of different vendors from different walks. This product has real people in mind - it brings a major high-end function to the masses of creative professionals out there.

So, I'm obviously thrilled to hear that my business oriented comments find ways into your subconscious. It really means something to me that IR listens so well as evidenced in your products and support.

Thanks Eric. I'm glad to hear you found TrueUpdate 2.0 easier to understand. That was one of the two major issues we wanted to solve in this upgrade from the original.

Although version 1.0 was a commercial success, it suffered from two inherent problems:

It wasn't intuitive enough. For instance, having two design environments was confusing...it was hard to know what you were supposed to do first.
It wasn't flexible enough. Our power users wanted more freedom, more control over the update process. And based on our feedback, the vast majority of TrueUpdate users are power users.

Version 2.0, however, is really something special. :) The interface is by far the most streamlined and uncluttered we've come up with yet.

making decisions simpler for the user was a primary goal
our feedback from version 1.0 led us to target more advanced users, which meant we could take full advantage of scripting to streamline the design
there were enough things that we felt needed improvement in 1.0 that we were able to take a very fresh approach to the design of 2.0

The whole design and development process has gone extremely well, allowing us to present a very complete product for this beta test.

We owe a lot of thanks to our users, whose feedback contributed in no small part to how well this version has turned out. :yes

That said, it is still a beta. We need to hear from our users now more than ever -- there is still a need for feedback. If there's anything we can guarantee at Indigo Rose, it's that no constructive criticism will ever be ignored.

Thanks, Lorne.

I'll be trying in the next week to force myself into the deeper reaches of the software to see if I can't help out in more detail.

So far, so good, though. I'm very impressed.

Dittos on the "positivity" here. :yes

The look is superb, maintains the overall look of IR "suite" created products.... MUCH easier to grasp....

Can't wait for the official release.

IR has done it again. And I strongly agree with Erics comments about IR being the most responsive vendor....!

Thanks again!
